Clear® Registered Traveler is Selected by Albany International Airport for Registered Traveler Program; Enrollment to Begin Within 30 Days of Agreement; Fast Lane Operations to Follow within 60 Days.
NEW YORK, NY - Clear® Registered Traveler announced today that the Albany County Airport Authority unanimously selected the company to launch its registered traveler program at the airport, expected in the next 60 days, once an agreement has been finalized. All airlines operating from the airport, and their customers, will be able to take advantage of the Clear program.
Clear allows business travelers and other frequent fliers to pay a fee ($99.95) to be pre-screened by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and receive a biometric identity card that provides them with expedited passage through airport security checkpoints. Applicants start their membership at www.flyclear.com and complete the process in person at an enrollment station where their biometrics (fingerprints and iris images) are captured. Clear enrollment stations are in operation at all airport locations listed below, in addition to convenient sites such as the Hyatt Grand Central in midtown Manhattan.
Clear, now with over 40,000 members, began the only privately-run registered traveler program at Orlando International Airport in July 2005. Earlier this year, Clear launched programs at Indianapolis, Cincinnati and San Jose Airports, in addition to JFK's Terminal 7. Next month, JFK's Terminals 1 and 4 as well as Newark's Terminal B will begin fast lane operations.
"We are very proud that Albany International Airport has been chosen to be part of the national Registered Traveler pilot program that will utilize the latest in innovative high-tech identification systems to enhance the safety of the traveling public," said David E. Langdon, chairman of the Albany County Airport Authority. "We look forward to working with Clear to develop a secure and convenient alternative to the current checkpoint procedures."
Steven Brill, founder and CEO of Clear, said, "We're delighted that we've been selected by the Albany County Airport Authority in this competitive process. As Albany International Airport serves consumers, business travelers and government - and provides direct service to Orlando where our largest program is based - Albany is a natural extension to the Clear network."
